10 adventures in Lanzarote

Discover them in the coming days

01
🎨 Living art

An island designed by an artist

César Manrique turned Lanzarote into his canvas. Nothing is built higher than a palm tree, everything is painted white. Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río, Cactus Garden — all his.

02
🍇 Wine geek

Vines grow in black craters

La Geria is the only wine region in the world where vines live in pits of volcanic ash. Malvasía grapes have survived here since 1730 — and the wine is unreal.

03
🐪 Bucket list

Camel safari on lava

Only place in Europe where you ride camels over volcanic rock. A tradition brought by the conquistadors in the 15th century. The Echadero de Camellos, right at Timanfaya’s gate.

04
🏄 Surf paradise

Famara: 6 km that look like the moon

Golden sand beach below a 600 m cliff. Surf all year round, used as a film set countless times, European kitesurf mecca. Wear a suit — the water means business.

05
⭐ Stargazing

The cleanest sky in Europe

UNESCO Starlight Reserve. No lights, no clouds. Naked-eye Milky Way from Las Breñas. Lie on the sand and count stars until you fall asleep.

06
🦞 Underground

Walking on 21,000 years of lava

The Cueva de los Verdes hides a 6 km lava tube. Inside: a secret lake, a concert hall with natural acoustics, optical illusions that mess with your head. Bring a jacket — it’s cold down there.

07
🌋 Wild nature

Cook with a volcano

At El Diablo restaurant inside Timanfaya, they grill steaks and chicken using underground heat. 400°C just 6 m below your feet. No gas, no power. Pure lava.

08
🟢 Geo magic

The green lake next to a black sea

At El Golfo, a fluorescent-emerald lake glows right next to the ocean. A chemical reaction between algae and volcanic minerals. Looks like another planet — and it’s here.

09
🏴‍☠️ Pirate history

Arrecife fought real pirates

The Castillo de San Gabriel (16th c.) in downtown Arrecife is there because Berber pirate raids were constant. The last big attack was in 1618 — half the island burned.

10
🌅 Microclimates

Three summers in one day

Breakfast in Playa Blanca at 28°C, lunch in Haría under palm trees at 22°C, dinner in Yaiza with sea breeze and the Corona Volcano on the horizon. The whole island fits in a day.
